Humboldt County, California
Soil food from spoiled food.
We pick up food waste from North Coast businesses, ferment it in sealed containers, and return it to local soil as an amendment that crops love.
No amendment
Amended with LAF
20,000 tonsof food waste leave our region every year
The nutrients are already here. We want to harness them for good.
Nearly all of the North Coast's food waste is hauled out of the area. That costs money and burns diesel, and local soil never sees the nutrients again.
Lactic acid fermentation lets us keep it here. The process is sealed and has no odor, and what comes out goes straight back into the ground nearby.
From kitchen to field
We collect
Your staff fill a sealed barrel with food scraps. We pick it up every week.
We ferment
The food waste is inoculated with beneficial bacteria and ferments in a closed container for 3 weeks.
Soil gets fed
The finished amendment goes to farms and gardens here on the North Coast.
